Wesley Turns 1

I am finally getting around to posting some of my faves from last year- the quality on these is not great as I was dealing with some seriously low light, but I love them just the same:)  Wesley's first experience with cake or any real sweets for that matter and boy did we create a monster! Both Jace and Ethan were a little put off by the taste or texture of cake on their first birthday, but not Wesley!  He was enjoying every second of it and he ate the ENTIRE CAKE!  And he didn't even vomit afterwards.

I love this shot- "Mmmmm, Mmmmmm, Mmmmmm... Where have you been all my life?"

Christmas Eve 2010

Christmas Eve 2010.  Our last Christmas spent in VA.  I wish I had known it at the time- I would have taken more photos.  Here are my boys enjoying a nice snack before bedtime.  After that we set out the milk and cookies for Santa, sent the kids to bed and then Tim and I enjoyed a nice home-cooked meal courtesy of a generous Omaha Steaks gift (thanks Angie and Andrew!)

Tooth fairy mishap...

This morning Jace woke up to discover that the tooth fairy forgot to pay him a visit.  Shoot.  Maybe it was because she was a bit hesitant to come in our house seeing that Mom was up with a bad cold all hours of the night.  Or maybe it was the fact that Jace left a big stash of dirty PJs under his pillow and the tooth got lost in the mess when she reached to find it.  Either way, Jace wanted to be sure she would not forget tonight.  I am pretty sure she will remember- lesson learned, tooth fairy!

Great to be 8!

How is that for a cheesy title!  This blog is in bad need of an update post, but I only have a few minutes so that will have to come later.  I just wanted to post these really quickly.  Yesterday Jace was baptized, and it was such a great day!  I feel like it was a major wake up call for me, seeing him go through what is a pretty big right of passage.  And for the first time, it hit me like a load of bricks how fast he is growing up.  My sister, Angie, got him these black slacks and shiny black shoes for his big day and as soon as he tried them on, I had a mini panic attack because he suddenly looked like a 12 year old.  How did that happen?  But enough about me- I am so proud of Jace for the great young man he is becoming.  And I feel like I owe all of you back in VA a big thank you for helping me raise this boy:)  Though it was great being around all of our family members, it did kind of feel like a part of our 'family' was missing.  But a special day just the same.

Looking so dapper in his slacks:)

Can't do pictures without one of these...

Ethan took this- not too bad!

And Ethan, like a little mouse, cleaning up all traces of Doritos crumbs from the chip bowls.  Starting with licking the Nacho Cheese bowl...

and moving on to the cool ranch:)

Hope you all are well!  We miss you!

Makeover

This morning I was doing some packing when Ethan yelled from the other room "Mom, Wes is getting a makeover!" I have no idea how Ethan even knows what a makeover is, but when I walked in the other room and saw this I litterally laughed out loud. After I screamed. I am just thankful Wes had the sense to take my craft chalk into the kitchen before he began his makeover. And I am also thankful for Spray and Wash:)
