My good friend Melanie reminded me of this fantastic show on her blog, so I went searching for some clips on YouTube. Foget Batman Begins, this is definately Christian Bale's finest work, IMO. I am still trying to convince Tim to sit through this whole show with me- something about watching men sing and dance for an hour just doesn't sit well with him. Don't tell him I said this, but I think deep down he really likes it. How could you not? It is so sad... he is so uncultured. I can't believe I don't own this show anymore. We owned it growing up and me and my sis Angie watched it ALL.THE.TIME. We both had a crush on Spot Collins, though looking back I am not sure why. Probably because he was the tough Brooklyn newsie leader, but really he is not that good looking. Jack and Dave are much hotter.
This is definitely my next movie purchase... Thanks for the reminder, Mel!

Yup, I couldn't agree more. With everything. Yeah, Spot was cute too but looking back I think, "Why did I think Mush was so cute when Christian Bale was in the movie? Who can compare to him?!" And yeah, it really was true movie perfection. I need to own that movie again. I did long ago as well but I don't know what happened to it.
I did have a tiny experience with someone more connected to the whole Newsies thing. There was this really well known Inn across the street from me in Midway and the woman who ran it (after her husband died) was in my ward. While my parents stayed there, I visited and checked out her basement which was full of movie photos and most of them were from Newsies. She had worked on the set as the hairdresser for the main actors! I almost started drooling.
Anyway, once again Mandy, we find yet another thing we can completely relate to each other on.
Okay, I just watched that video again and it gave me that excited giggly feeling I used the get when I was a kid watching that movie. I'm such a nerd but I LOVE this movie!
Well, my sisters must not be checking my blog because I am sure they would chime in.
