Nauvoo, Part 2

My kids' favorite part of Nauvoo was this park called Pioneer Pastimes. In addition to dress ups for kids and adults there were all kinds of good ol' fashioned games and activities. Jace loved this game- I don't what it is called, maybe catch and throw a ring with a stick?

Grandma and Grandpa Carroll, doing some swing dancing. So cute!

My boys looking awefully handsome in their old fashioned get ups...

Nauvoo, Part 1

This past August we made a road trip out to Nauvoo, Illinois for a Carroll Family Reunion. We spent the majority of our time in the car, as you can imagine, and I was terrified of a two day car ride with a new baby! But the kids all did great...

For the most part
What do you do when your 6 year old needs to use the bathroom in the middle of Ohio? You pull over to one of the cornfields (which are literally everywhere!)

We also spent a lot of time at local parks, stretching and getting our wiggles out and eating fast food. I think we ate at McDonald's a total of 6 times in 4 days, or at least my kids did(happy meal toys make great car toys!). After one day of fast food burgers, Tim and I opted for some slightly more healthy options like Arby's and Subway.

Swim Champs

These are from Jace's swimming Championship meet this past July. At the end of the season, all the area swim leagues meet together at the UVA aquatics center. It was so fun to see all the swimmers there- lots of hype and excitement. Jace had a ball! Here he is with his BFF Addison...
Wesley chillin' with daddy...
Waiting with his 5/6 year old team...
Here they are probably discussing the water temperature and who they predict will take the 5/6 year old title...
Waiting...
More waiting...
Round 1: Freestlye! The first thing Jace noticed was that he was swimming in 14 FEET!!!!! This alone was a huge accomplishment for him- we all know it is much harder to swim in 14 feet than in, say, 8-9 feet. Good job, Jace!
Look at that perfect stroke!
And there he is- 34 seconds!
Heading over for Backstroke...
Jace checking to see if there are any sharks below him before he dives in...
And they're off!
Note the arrow below- there is Jace, looking strong!
Again, note the arrow. They had the names all wrong, but Jace was in lane 5, finishing in 4th place in his heat (14th overall, which is great!).
So proud of our little guy!
