Halloween Party

These are from Ellie's Halloween party. Jace talked about this party for weeks and it definitely lived up to his high expectations! He had so much fun! The first shot was taken at home, just before we left- he is practicing his toughest "Argggggh, Matey!". I was a little worried on the way there because he was acting really finicky about his outfit. As soon as we went outside in the rain and his faux boots got wet, he started to cry. I had to practically drag him from the car into the grocery store before the party because he didn't want to get his outfit wet- funny kid! But luckily he quickly forgot about that once the party started- lots of fun!

Give me an S-L-A-C-K-E-R...

What does it spell? SLACKER! Yes, that is me to a T this month! I can't believe November is already over and the last time I posted was on Halloween- ouch! My apologies to all my blog followers! Normally I would excuse myself by saying how busy I have been, but I can't even count on my hands and toes how many times I have used that lame excuse! I mean, come on, who isn't busy? More accurately it is just plain old procrastination and poor time management skills. I am very good at taking lots of pictures, but I have a horrible habit of just downloading them to my hard drive to clear off my card so I can take more pictures, which I will leave on my card until I need to take more pictures and so the vicious cycle continues. I have so many folders of pictures that I haven't even looked at yet- it is pathetic! They are just sitting there on my hard drive, constantly nagging me to be edited and blogged (and printed, but I will save that project for later in the winter!).

Does anyone else ever feel like the longer their to do list gets, the more incapable they become of getting anything productive done? Well, this is serious problem for me. I spend so much time agonizing over the things I need to get done that it makes me so tired and stressed that I just need to go take a nap. I really need to work on my time management skills! But, after writing out a thorough to-do list, I declare today Productivity day and I am determined to accomplish everything on my list! And one of those things is to bring the blog up to date. So watch out for a flood of outdated posts!

I know we are into the Christmas season now, but here are our Halloween pictures. Jace at UVA getting loads of candy for mom and dad (and a few for him)... These are for you Camie- hope they bring back fond memories for you!!

More on the way...

Halloween Tribute

Just wanted to share this shortened version of a 1980's classic MJ with everyone. WARNING: NOT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN!!! I made the mistake of opening this link with Jace in the room and the ghouls were a little too creepy for him! I hope he isn't scarred for life! So make sure your kids are not in the room! But this has to be one of coolest music videos ever made!! LOVE it!!! (And I still secretly want to learn this dance...)

Suckers

It rained here all last week so out of pure boredom after being holed up in the house we resorted to what else? Photos, of course! It was really dark, so I decided to get a little creative with my light. So, I shut all the blinds and drapes in the house to get it nice and dark, then opened up the front door to light the boys. And since I knew Ethan would try to crawl out the door, I pulled out the dum-dums to keep him occupied. Yes, I like to start my kids on dum-dums early. Recent studies have shown that the sugar in dum-dums is great for promoting brain development in infants. I am kidding of course- but I like to pretend it is true so I don't feel so guilty! I know this will make my dad (he's a dentist) cringe though, watching Ethan chew on this dental death stick with his one new baby tooth. Yikes- sorry dad! I promise I brushed his teeth(no, tooth) when we were all done!
I love these though- especially those first three shots! It is tough getting a shot of the two of them together so I was proud of myself! And I love the shot of Jace's eyelashes- don't kids always have the most amazing lashes? Especially boys- it is so unfair! These were all taken with my 35mm lens, with me sitting on the first step of our porch while the rain from our gutters dripped down the back of my shirt. I got soaked, but it was worth it!
If I don't post again before then, have a Happy Halloween everyone! And be sure to check out the contest over on my business blog! You can all enter this one!

"Look, Mommy!"

"I'm a moose!"
Yes, that is what Jace told me one day while holding these 'antlers' up to his head- clever little guy! I would totally run with this idea and let him be a moose for Halloween if only these antlers weren't potentially hazardous to other trick-or-treaters! Too bad; it would save me the trouble of making a costume for him!
